IRICEN to celebrate Foundation Day on November 1

IRICEN BldgPune: The Indian Railway Institute of Civil Engineering (IRICEN), a centralized training institute of Indian Railways, will be celebrating its 58th IRICEN day on November 1.

The formal function, will be presided by additional member (civil engineering), Railway Board, S S Narayanan, will be the chief guest and preside over the function. Central Railways general manager SK Sood and senior officials will attend the function.

IRICEN imparts and one and half year long, rigorous training to the IRSE (Indian Railway Service of Engineers) officers recruited by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), has recognized this rigorous training given to IRSE officers for grant of Masters degree (M Tech). IRICEN is located in an environment friendly Platinum rated green building having features to save energy, and water. During 2014-15, IRICEN had conducted courses for almost 30,000 trainee-days.

A seminar on the subject, “Fast paced infrastructure development on Indian Railway” and “Mechanization in track construction and maintenance” is also being conducted. The observations presented during seminar will guide Indian Railways in years to come.

During the function, Silver Jubilee (1989) batch officers of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) cadre, who are completing 25 years of service in Indian Railways shall be felicitated. A number of trophies and medals will be awarded to officers, who have excelled in various training courses held during past one year.
