Secunderabad: The Indian Railway Institute of Signal Engineering & Telecommunications (IRISET) Secunderabad, a premier centralized training institute under Ministry of Railways has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University College of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad for offering M.Tech/ME Degree program in Railway Signal & Telecommunications Engineering for IRSSE (Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineering) probationers recruited through UPSC Indian Engineering Service Examination.
The IRSSE probationers currently undergo 18 months rigorous training at IRISET, field training in Zonal Railways and other Training Centres of Indian Railways.
The MoU was exchanged between Shri Vikrant Kalra, Director, IRISET and Prof.S.Ramachandram, Principal, University College of Engineering, Osmania University. Shri C.K.Prasad, Prof.Telecom, IRISET; Dr.Chandrasekhar, Osmania University; Dr.Rajendra Naik, Head of Department, ECE, Osmania University; Prof.S.Sameen Fatima, Osmania University and Dr.Nirmala Devi, Osmania University were also present.
Under this MoU, the said training programme and field training will include additional subjects like Systems & Software Engineering, Reliability Engineering, EMI/EMC etc and faculty of IRISET and OU College of Engineering will conduct theory classes for course work and semester end exams for fulfilling academic requirements of the M.Tech/M.E. Degree.
This MoU will boost the Industry interactions with academics and allows exchange of faculty and other resources which will benefit both the organizations. IRISET will get the status of Centre for Research and Students of Osmania University will get an opportunity to undertake Project work and access to Laboratories of IRISET. This is an important milestone in collaborative programmes of IRISET.
