Jaipur (JP): Following the directions from the commissioner of metro rail safety (CMRS), the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) on Wednesday night started preparations for conducting load tests on the elevated track.
The load tests will continue till May 21. During this period, the traffic will be closed on the elevated road which connects Shyam Nagar crossing to Ajmer flyover.
Project director Ashwani Saxena said, “We have started preparations to conduct the load tests. The tests will be held at three points on the elevated road between Ajmer Road and Sodala.”
The official further said that during the tests, two loaded trains would be parked on the up-line and down-line on the uppermost elevated track. Beneath it, nearly six to 12 trucks will be parked. “One train will bear a load of nearly 1,300 passengers. The trucks will also be loaded to full capacity. After that, the behaviour of the pillars will be examined,” said the official.
The traffic department on Wednesday also issued a notice to close the elevated road for traffic. However, the traffic will remain open beneath the elevated road.
Recently, Jaipur Metro phase-I corridor (Mansarovar to Chandpol) had received the safety nod from the CMRS.
However, the CMRS gave his approval with a few riders, which mandated load tests.
