Jaipur: The Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) on Friday got the permission for rolling stock from the railway board. Senior officers with JMRC said that before going for the maiden run they needed two permissions – one for the rolling stock which was to be given by the railway board and another by commissioner, Metro Rail Safety for opening of rail section between Mansarovar to Chandpole.
JMRC has got the permission for the rolling stock. “Our rolling stock is approved by the railway board and now can be used for commercial run. However, to start the commercial run we now need the final nod from Chetan Bakshi, commissioner, Metro Rail Safety, who arrived for the four-day inspection of JMRC on Friday,” said Ashwini Saxena, project director, JMRC told.
On the other hand, as the last sanction the Commissioner, Metro Rail Safety, Mumbai, also arrived here to inspect the Metro and its various aspects. Earlier in the day, Bakshi arrived and was accompanied by NC Goyal, CMD, JMRC and other officials, and visited Mansarovar Metro station. “He keenly inspected our civil structure and went through various safety aspects. He will be here for the inspection on March 15 to March 18 except for March 17 when he has to go to Bikaner for official work,” said a senior officer with the JMRC.
Bakshi had also visited Mansarovar depot and reviewed various works undertaken by JMRC for the plying of Metro train in Jaipur. “His inspection lasted till 8.30pm in the evening amid drizzles. He will continue his inspection on Sunday,” said an official.
