Jaya case delays Chennai Metro inauguration

Chennai (MAS): When the Koyambedu-Alandur stretch of metro rail gets the final nod from the commissioner of railway safety next week, there will still be something standing between you and the promised ride: the disproportionate wealth case against former chief minister J Jayalalithaa.

Several officials of the state government and Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) have independently confirmed that the inaugural date of the 10km stretch constructed at a cost of Rs 4,000 crore would be decided only after the verdict of the Karnataka high court.
