Kanpur District Polling Officer asks Railways to halt Goods Train movement on Polling Dates

KANPUR: District Election Officer Mr.Kaushal Raj Sharma, on Tuesday, wrote a letter to Divisional Railway Manager, North Central Railway, Allahabad and Divisional Railway Manager, Moradabad Division of Northern Railway and asked them to minimize the train movement in Kanpur-Farrukhabad rail section on February 19. He urged to stop the movement of goods trains between 6 am and 8 pm to facilitate railway crossing by citizens to cast vote in different geographies of the district.

The railway lines passing from the district had divided the district in many parts. The movement of trains would check the movement of vehicles, police force, para military forces and administrative officers when the railway crossing would be closed for passing of train.

In case of emergency, forces and officers may not reach in time if the railway crossings get closed. Therefore, minimize the movement of trains on that day and fix minimum closure time for railway crossing so that movement of polling parties could not be disturbed.
