Karnataka Railway Police to recruit for 850 new vacancies

बंगलोर Bangalore (SBC): The state government has decided double the number of Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel across the state.

A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Umesh on Thursday.

ADGP (law and order) M N Reddy said: “Presently, around 900 policemen are stationed at railway stations across the state. We have decided to add 850 personnel more.

The Central Railway Station in Bangalore will also get additional staff and security will be enhanced”.  Fifty per cent of the cost of hiring additional personnel will be borne by the Railway Board. A senior official said around 363 railway stations and 1,100 platforms are in the state.

A decision was also taken to deploy government railway police with Konkan Railways. Till now, stations under Konkan Railways were manned by the local police.
