Karnataka State Cabinet okays DPR for Bangalore Suburban Railway

BANGALORE: The Karnataka State Cabinet on Wednesday approved a detailed project report prepared by RITES for implementing 440 km of suburban rail network for Bengaluru.

Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Law Minister T B Jayachandra said the project is estimated cost Rs 10,949 crore. The plan is to have a suburban rail network between Bengaluru and Mandya, Bengaluru and Yeshwantpur, Yeshwantpur and Tumakuru, Yeshwantpur and Yelahanka, Yelahanka and Baiyappanahalli, Yelahanka and Chikkaballapur, Yelahanka and Doddaballapur, Bengaluru and Bang­arpet and Kunigal and Soladevanahalli.

He, however, refused to disclose how the government is planning to mobilise funds for the project.
