Yes, now, you can get married on the train; in India!
BANGALORE: Now, you can actually tell you future kids that you met your future husband/wife on a train and got married on a train too. Okay, maybe that’s too romantic a scenario, but it’s not implausible, thanks to KSTDC.
For all the lovers of railways, this comes as a huge news–you might actually be able to get married on Karnataka’s Golden Chariot luxury train. Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) is actively working on introducing wedding and honeymoon packages too!
An official from the department said this would be the first destination wedding offer in the country on any luxury train. The official told, “Quite a few are keen on making their wedding a small affair at an exotic place.”
So, this is how it works–once a wedding party books the train, KSTDC will arrange for decorations, hire transport (luxury AC buses) from the railway station to the wedding hall, and even book priests. The KSTDC will also take care of pre-wedding rituals such as sangeet, mehendi and reception. The cuisine can be customised. The couple can also be sent on honeymoon through the package, if you buy the fatter one.
KSTDC also plans to offer a variety of national and international alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages on board.
If you’re getting married on the train, your number of guests can’t exceed 86, but outside, there’s no restriction on the number of guests you’d like to invite. The rates for a package are expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh. The packages are expected to be available for the public in another month or so.
