Kerala user groups and activists demands for a new Railway Zone

Thiruvananthapuram:  Various Railway user groups and activists also comprising of ZRUCC and DRUCC members from Thiruvananthapuram, Palakkad and Mangalore from Kerala are pulling up socks to urge for formation of South West Coast Railway (SWCoR) zone bringing Thiruvananthapuram, Palakkad and Mangalore divisions into one zonal structure with Thiruvananthapuram as its Zonal Headquarter.  The demand for separate Railway zone is growing eversince the demand for formation of a new Mangalore Division has picked up, particularly after Railway Minister Mr.Kharge announced formation of Gulbarga Division recently.

Few of the members have planned to meet A.K. Antony, Minister of Defence at his official residence at 9, Krishna, Menon Marg, New Delhi, and also at his hometown residence ‘Anjanam’, Easwara Vilasam Road, Thiruvananthapuram for putting pressure on the UPA Led government and Ministry of Railways for creation of a new Zonal Railway carved out of the Southern and South Western Railway systems.  User groups and activists have submitted a draft memorandum in this regard, yesterday.
