Kharge renames Narayanpet Road Railway Station as ‘Saidapur’

Narayanpet Road (NRPD) / Saidapur:  Union Minister for Railways Mr.Mallikarjun Kharge renamed Narayanpet Road Railway Station as Saidapur Railway Station at a function held o­n 7th December 2013. The Station is situated in Guntakal Division of SCR o­n Wadi-Raichur Section (in Yadgir District, Karnataka State).

Shri Baburao Chinchanasoor, Hon’ble Minister for Textiles, Ports & Inland Transport and District In-charge Minister, Yadgir, Dr.A.B.Maalakareddy, Hon’ble MLA, Yadgir, Shri Raja Venkatappa Nayak, Hon’ble MLA, Shorapur, Smt. Bhimamma Krishna Chapetla, President, Zilla Panchayat, Yadgir, Smt.Shobarani, President, Taluk Panchayat, Yadgir, Smt. Radhamma Kore, President, Gram Panchayat, Saidapur, Shri P.K.Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway were present o­n the occasion.

Speaking o­n the occasion, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge said that renaming of Narayanpet Road Railway Station as Saidapur was a long pending demand of the people which was fulfilled today. Renaming of any Railway Station is an arduous task as it needs clearance from several Government Departments. Shri Kharge detailed o­n various projects being undertaken by Railways in Karnataka Region towards expansion of Railway Network and services to meet the public demands. He assured that Railways will continue its best for strengthening the rail infrastructure in this area.

While delivering welcome address, Shri P.K.Srivastava, General Manager, SCR said that Saidapur Railway Station is an important station situated at a key location between the two prominent District Headquarters cities of Yadgir and Raichur.In view of its traffic potential, Railways have provided halt for 14 express trains and 4 passenger trains. In the recent years passenger amenity works worth Rs.1.80 Crores have been completed and works worth Rs.15 lakhs are under progress. As Railways is highly responsive to the aspirations and needs of the people, the name of local Railway Station is renamed as Saidapur keeping view its actual geographical position.
