Work to begin on setting up Railway divisional HQ
Gulbarga (GR): Railway Minister M.Mallikarjun Kharge has said that the work on the proposed establishment of new Divisional Railway Headquarters at Gulbarga will be formally inaugurated on February 28, with the laying of the foundation stone for its administrative office.
In a brief chat with presspersons on the sidelines of the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Rs.180-crore MSME Technology Centre at Shahbad in Chittapur taluk of Gulbarga district on Tuesday, Mr.Kharge said the work would be inaugurated at a function for laying the foundation stone for the proposed Wadi-Gadag new railway line by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and himself on February 28.
To a question, Mr.Kharge said that official orders for establishing the Railway Divisional Headquarters at Gulbarga in Karnataka, Silchar in Assam and Udampur in Jammu and Kashmir would be issued in a day or two.
Taking a dig at his detractors, Mr. Kharge said it was strange that some people take pleasure in criticising even the good work done by the government.“For whatever contributions made in the past nine months as Railway Minster and bringing morerailway projects to Karnataka, worth several thousands of crores, there are people criticising me for bringing so many projects only to Karnataka,” he said.
As a matter of fact, Karnataka had not witnessed such a fast-paced development in Railways in the past and whatever had been done to improve the railway network was for the entire country and not restricted to any single region, he said.
