Kochi: The Board of Directors of the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) will meet on May 2 at the KMRL office. It is after a short break owing to the Lok Sabha elections that the Board members are meeting.
The meeting is expected to discuss key issues related to Kochi Metro rail construction including the delay in land acquisition for the Metro Rail, the re-tendering of coaches and the construction at the fourth reach of the project between Vyttila and Tripunithura Petta.
Earlier, E.Sreedharan, the Principal Adviser of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), had expressed his dissatisfaction over the slow progress of land acquisition. He had also said that the re-tendering of coaches will further affect the project deadline. The construction at the third reach, from Ernakulam South to Vyttila, is progressing on a slow pace while the land acquisition between Vyttila and Tripunithura Petta stretch is yet to be initiated.
As the Government officials were busy with the election arrangements, no major steps in connection with the land acquisition were initiated in the last one-and-a-half month.
