Kochi: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Principal Advisor Dr. E. Sreedharan said on Monday that the first service of Kochi metro will be conducted in March. In the first stage, the service will be from Aluva to Palarivattom.
Sreedharan was speaking after evaluating the construction of the Kochi metro from Aluva to Palarivattom.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had earlier said at the evaluation meeting that Kochi Metro should start operating services only after the work of the Metro rail is completed till Maharaja’s College station.
MLAs too had extended their complete support when Pinarayi said that there is no harm if it takes more than three months than the stipulated time announced for metro service to begin, due to this direction.
However, the DMRC has taken the stand that the first stage service need to conducted till Palarivattom only,
The motor trolley inspection was conducted today.
After evaluating the co-ordination between different engineering departments, Sreedharan directed the officials to speed up the work.
He also expressed satisfaction about the progress of the work
The Kochi Metro is jointly constructed by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Kochi Metro Rail Limited.
