Kochi: The Board of Directors meeting of the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) has assessed that the Metro rail project for Kochi would require a total of Rs.1500 Crore in this current year. The source of funding will be discussed further and the Managing Director of the KMRL will assess the progress in this regard.
The meeting also decided on August 27 to entrust the approved consultants of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) with carrying out a detailed environment impact and social study of the proposed Kochi Metro Rail Project.
The decision was taken at the 14th meeting of the KMRL Board of Directors at Thiruvananthapuram on August 27. KMRL had invited a tender in this regard last week. The meeting, which was presided over by KMRL Chairman Sudheer Krishna reviewed the present status and progress of the project in terms of Civil work, tendering and other aspects.
