Kochi: One more incident of pipeline burst at the construction site of Kochi Metro rail was reported on Thursday.
This time it was on the Banerjee Road. The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) officials had earlier conveyed their dissatisfaction over the frequent pipe bursts taking place at the Metro construction sites.
A similar incident had occurred at Edappally near the Changampuzha park during the piling work, the other day.
“The water supply system in the city will get affected if similar incidents recur. So we have requested the authorities to carry out the work after thoroughly inspecting the area where the work has to be done,” said a top official with Kerala Water Authority.
The KWA authorities are of the opinion that the work should be carried out only after the water pipes along the Metro route are realigned.
Meanwhile, the Metro authorities blamed that even the Kerala Water Authority officials did not have a clear idea about the areas where the pipelines are passing through.
KMRL managing director Elias George had convened a meeting with the KWA officials, the other day.
After the meeting, he had said that the KMRL was trying to chalk out a permanent solution for the issue.
