Kolkata Metro GM inaugurates Lathe Machine at Noapara car shed

Kolkata: As a part of Passenger and Customer Facilitation Fortnight – “Railyatri / Upbhokta Pakhwada” in Indian Railways, a lot of programmes have been taken in Metro Railway, Kolkata.

Radhey Shyam, General Manager, Metro Railway, Kolkata inaugurated the commissioning of one high tech CNC Under Floor Pit Type Wheel Lathe Machine of HYT make  at Noapara car depot recently.  The cost of the machine is Rs 5.9 crore approximately.

The machine has some unique features with most ultra-modern technologies for setting and cutting of wheels to improve reliability and safety to the coaches. It requires very less maintenance as well as more user-friendly regarding operational point of view in comparison to the earlier Pit Type Wheel Lathe Machine.
