Koraput Jn (KRPU): Thousands of people from Koraput and adjoining areas joined together on Sunday to place their demands for direct rail connectivity to the State capital and National capital.
They submitted a memorandum in this regard to the President of India through district Collector of Koraput Sachin Jadhav. The campaign named as ‘Give One Day for Koraput’ was organised near the Kala Niketan of Koraput town under the banner of the Koraput Bikash Parishad where the members collected signatures for the banner and postcards.
They also demanded more trains to Bhubaneswar while urging the Railway Ministry to launch and extend suitable trains so as to connect the region with Delhi directly. The team was lead by well-known social activist G Sanjeev Kumar. Among others, Ch Santakar, Bhabani Shankar Mishra, Manoj Acharya, Dr Uma Sankar Prasad Patra, Er Sunil Biswal, Manoranjan Maharana, Shaik Ibrahim, Shaheda Parween, Govind Ballabh Padhi, Nabin Chandra Sahu, Manoj Kumar Mohanty, B Lalitha, Prabhasini Pradhan and Pramilla Kirsani spearheaded the signature campaign.
