The UJF leaders met the Union Minister in Delhi on Saturday and apprised him of the injustice being done to Waltair Division, the highest revenue earner in the zone, by the East Coast Railway (ECoR) headquarters in Bhubaneswar.

They told him that important through trains were being diverted via Duvvada without touching Visakhapatnam, trains originating from Visakhapatnam were extended to Bhubaneswar and Puri while ignoring the demands for extension of trains from two places on a reciprocal basis.

Despite being the highest revenue earner and Visakhapatnam being the busiest station of ECoR, it was being given a raw deal in the allocation of new trains, berths and development works while small stations in Odisha were being favoured by the ECoR authorities, the delegation told the Minister.

The Minister also agreed with the UJF that rural journalists and their families should also be given railway concession passes on par with their urban counterparts, according to a statement issued by the UJF.
