PATNA: Reacting to the CBI’s affidavit filed in the Supreme Court on Friday in connection with the coal scam investigation, RJD chief and former railway minister Lalu Prasad said various political parties should let the apex court decide whether the Union government or its ministers had committed any wrong in allotment of coal mines.
“The matter is between the CBI and the judiciary. CBI has submitted its affidavit to the Supreme Court on coal scam investigation. The report is now with the apex court,” Prasad told mediapersons at the official residence of his wife and former CM Rabri Devi here.
Prasad attacked BJP for paralysing the parliament over the issue, saying BJP didn’t want discussion on the coal scam, hence it had been disrupting parliament. “I am not attending parliament these days because of my hectic tour programme to garner support for the RJD’s proposed ‘Parivartan Rally’ in Patna on May 15, but I feel parties should allow parliament to run so that discussion on coal scam could be held,” he said.
He was talking to mediapersons on the occasion of two former MLAs – Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhaskar (former JD-U MLA from Sultanganj between 2005-10) and Bilat Paswan Bihangam (former Congress MLA)- and hundreds of their supporters joining the RJD. Welcoming them in the party, Prasad said both Bhaskar and Bihangam belonged to dalit community and had realized that only RJD could protect the prestige of dalit families.
Prasad assailed the Bihar government for “not acting promptly” against the accused in rape cases taking place in the state. “Whenever a rape incident occurs in New Delhi, Nitish Kumar reacts promptly and comes out with a strong statement criticizing the incident and demanding action against culprits. But when similar incidents of rape of minor girls happen at Bihta, Nawada and other parts of the state, Bihar police do not react fast and allow the accused to escape,” Prasad said.
