Lucknow Charbagh: The state capital of Uttar Pradesh would be in the focus of Indian railways with different projects, particularly to de-congest the rail traffic by investing over several thousand crores, being rolled out.
The historic Charbagh railway station would be remodeled to be one of the best stations of northern India while couple of satellite stations would come up to de-congest the passengers and trains by giving world class facilities.
The re-modeling of the Charbagh station has started and in a phased manner it would be built. In the first phase railways will spend around Rs 550 crore which will include underground parking, budget hotels and other facilities.
Indian Railways is in the process of launching various projects in Lucknow and other places to decongest rail traffic by investing several hundred crore rupees in the projects.
Railway officials are likely to make a presentation before Union Defence Minister and Member of Parliament from Lucknow, Rajnath Singh, on the projects to be launched in Lucknow on Saturday.

Besides Charbagh, the Northern Railway has taken up projects to construct rail terminals at Transport Nagar, Alamnagar and Utretia stations. Besides, Gomti Nagar model station is also being constructed at a faster pace now.
Meanwhile, Divisional Railway Manager (Lucknow) of Northern Railways, Sanjay Tripathi, said in Lucknow on Friday that there were several projects underway in Lucknow to provide better passenger facilities and decongest Charbagh station in the coming days .
“The construction of a terminal at Transport Nagar has started along with a washing line and other facilities which will be the centre point on connection of a rail bypass from Alamnagar to Utretia. We are doubling the track on this bypass so that some trains can be originated from these stations,” he said.
Tripathi said that Charbagh railway station was also being remodelled without interfering with its historical architect. The plan includes expansion of seven more platforms, budget hotels, both side entry and international class facilities.
The DRM also said that the third and fourth tracks connecting Barabanki was under construction while construction of Gomti Nagar model station was being expedited.
