Mumbai: The state will send drinking water in railway wagons to drought-hit areas if needed. Also, fodder for animals will be available from neighbouring state, said CM Devendra Fadnavis in Pandharpur on Sunday.
He is on a tour of drought-hit areas. “I have spoken to railway minister Suresh Prabhu about water trains,” he said.
Fadnavis has visited six districts, including 40 villages in Marathwada, since last week. “One cannot understand the gravity of the situation by sitting in Mantralaya,” he said.
The CM visited south Solapur, Akkalkot, Latur and Pandharpur on Sunday. A woman jumped in front of the CM’s convoy when he was going to the Solapur district collectorate. Fadnavis got off the car and spoke to the woman, who had an issue with the caste verification process.
