Many Railway Stations on Danapur Division to get new Foot-over-Bridges (FOBs) soon

PATNA: The Railway Board has sanctioned Rs 1.17 crore to the Danapur division of East Central Railway (ECR) for carrying out projects related to passenger amenities at different stations in the ongoing financial year 2018-2019.

Divisional Railway Manager/Danapur Division Ranjan Prakash Thakur said work had already been started to improve passenger amenities at different stations in the division. They will be completed within the stipulated time, he said.

The projects include replacement of a 2.44-metre wide foot over bridge (FOB) with a 6.1-metre wide FOB at Bihta station at an estimated cost of Rs 3.78 lakh. Also, additional FOBs are being constructed at Barh, Hathidah and Fatuha stations at total cost of Rs 4.66 lakh.

Besides, work has been initaited to provide sheds at the platforms at Makhdumpur and Tehta stations on the Patna-Gaya section of the division. The circulating areas of these two stations are also being surfaced, the DRM said.

The sanctioned funds include Rs 4.67 lakh for Ara station. The money will be used to complete the circulating area at the station and give a new look to the facade of the station building. Ara station will also get a a two-bay platform shed and a three-metre wide new FOB, according to the DRM.

In view of the rising importance of Sakaldiha station on the Patna-Mughalsarai route due to sudden flow of passengers, the railways has decided to build a 10-ft wide FOB at Sakaldiha at a cost of Rs 3.02 lakh. A new 20-ft wide FOB is also being constructed at Jhajha at an estimated cost of Rs 4.25 lakh, the DRM said and added new FOBs were coming up at Jehanabad and Taregna stations as well.

Danapur station will also get a new FOB that will connect platform numbers 2, 3 , 4 , 5 and 6. A three-metre wide FOB each is being built at Twinniganj, Kulharia, Karisath and Bhadaura stations, the DRM said, adding sheds would be provided at the platforms of at least 18 halts on the Patna-Gaya route.

The existing FOBs at Jamui and Bakhtiarpur stations will be replaced with 20-ft wide FOBs. A three-ft wide FOB will be built at Bansipur and Mankhata stations, the DRM said.
