MC Chauhan appointed as GM of North Central Railway

ALLAHABAD: The present general manager (GM) of the Metro Railway, Kolkata, M C Chauhan has been given the additional charge of new GM of North Central Railway (NCR). Chauhan belongs to the 1979 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE).

Informing about the additional charge, the chief public relation officer (CPRO) NCR, Bijay Kumar said that prior to his posting as GM, Metro Railway, Chauhan was adviser, Railway Electrification in Railway Board.

He further informed that Chauhan has varied experience of working in various posts of Indian Railways including Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Mumbai, from 2009 to 2011, during which 167 new suburban services were introduced and the 6th line was commissioned between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Thane Station. He also worked as executive director, RE and director power supply, railway board. During his tenure in board, he was instrumental in introduction of metallised carbon strips and sanction of DC to AC conversion work in Mumbai area.

He has also received training in computerised freight operations information system with Canac International Consultant in Canada; Rolling Stock Modernisation in Japan and 3 Phase EMU in Germany.
