Mumbai: In a bid to garner funds for the ambitious Pune Metro Rail project, the Maharashtra Government has decided to create what would be known as Metro Influence Zone alongside 500 metres from the alignment and for this Floor Space Index (FSI) up to 4 would be offered.
This was stated by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan in a written reply in the Maharashtra Legislative Council.
To a question by Dr Neelam Gorhe (Shiv Sena) on whether to garner funds for the Pune Metro project, 4 FSI is being offered and whether it is true, Chavan in a written reply said: “Yes”.
The Chief Minister, further explaining the decision and the rationale, said that 80 per cent of the premium would be used entirely for the Metro Rail project, balance 20 per cent would be utilised towards creation of basic infrastructure facilities.
Chavan said that objections have been invited from the public, if any. Objections and suggestions, if any, were invited by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966.
“The final report is yet to be received by the government for final approval,” Chavan stated.
