Buxar (BXR): Minister of state for railways Manoj Sinha inaugurated a foot overbridge (FOB) at Buxar station in Danapur division of East Central Railway (ECR) on Wednesday. An upgraded concourse hall was also thrown open for passengers at Buxar on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sinha said railways was committed to provide proper passenger amenities at each big and small station under ECR. He said the railways has allocated adequate funds for passenger amenities in the 2015-2016 fiscal. Built at a cost of about Rs.2.47 crore, the FOB having the length of about 104 metre will cope with the passengers’ rush at Buxar during peak time, Sinha said adding it was sanctioned during 2009-2010 fiscal.
Sinha also inaugurated a road overbridge (ROB) at Harinagar railway crossing near Buxar through video conferencing system from Buxar station. The ROB was built at a cost of Rs.35.37 crore of which railways contributed its share of about Rs.12.91 crore while the state government spent about Rs.22.46 crore in completing this ROB. Railways will provide faster connectivity by running more MEMU and DEMU trains on the busy routes under Danapur division, he said.
“There should be no politics in development work. The railway has given Rs.600 crore each for the construction of long bridge at Digha ghat and Munger but at the behest of state government, the local administration is creating hurdles. Railways has constructed five foot overbridges (FOBs) this year in Bihar,” said Sinha.
“NaMo is committed to fulfill the dream of poor. The number of railway passengers has increased 16 times while fares have been increased only 8 times after Independence,” Sinha said. He also announced awards worth Rs 1 lakh for employees for their good work. Buxar MP Ashwani Kumar Choubey also announced to give Rs.25 lakh from his MPLAD for the development of Buxar railway station on this occasion.
Sinha ruled out granting stoppages of trains like Rajdhani Express, Sampoorna Kranti Express and Vikramshila Express at Buxar . BJP MP from Buxar Ashwani Choubey had earlier urged minster of state for railways for sanctioning stoppages of these three premier trains at Buxar in the larger interest of passengers. ECR GM A K Mittal, who welcomed the guests, said railways will install a portrait of Maharshi Valmiki at the renovated waiting hall.
Chief administrative officer L M Jha, secretary to GM A K Jha, Danapur DRM N K Gupta , ECR CPRO Arvind Rajak , senior divisional commercial manager of Danapur Amitabh Prabahkar, senior divisional engineer Akhilesh Kumar and many others were present at the function.
