AGARTALA: Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain would be arriving here tomorrow to inspect the ongoing railways projects, official sources confirmed here.
Gohain is scheduled to inspect the ongoing railway extension work from Udaipur to Sabroom, besides having a meeting with NFR officials on Wednesday, said an official.
The 70km railway extension project has made good progress with BG trains running between Agartala to Udaipur. And, the same train will run up to Garjee in Gomati district by March itself.
The project, connecting Agartala with Sabroom, is supposed to be completed by June 2019. “We are hoping to complete the project within the stipulated time and the NFR is giving priority to it,” said the official.
Gohain would also address a BJP rally at Jolaibari in South Tripura district as part of the party’s plan to garner support for the 2018 Assembly elections. Before leaving the State on the same day, the Union Minister will also have a meeting with party leaders on organisational matters.
