Secunderabad: Ravindra Babu, Member of Parliament, Amalapuram, Andhra Pradesh called on Ravindra Gupta, General Manager, SCR at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad General Manager on 16th May 2016.
He held discussions on the work concerning the Kotipalli – Narasapur New Broad Gauge Railway Line Project.
The MP desired to know the present status and action plan for completing the work of Kotipalli – Narsapur New Line and requested for expediting the Phase–I work between Kotipalli – Amalapuram Stations to a length of 12 Kms.
General Manager Mr.Gupta explained the Member of Parliament in detail on the action plan for taking up the works of Kotipalli – Narsapur new line and informed that the laying of the rail bridge across Gouthami river which will be a length of 3.5 kms length would be taken up first and tenders will be floated in the month of June, 2016.
Tenders for bridges across Vyanatheyam and Vasishta rivers would be invited during April, 2017. The plan is to complete all the works in a time frame of 6 years as the Gouthami Bridge alone will take around 4 ½ years and considering the allotment of funds.
The Amalapuram MP was informed that the land acquisition between Kotipalli and Amalapuram stations has been completed except for 75 acres of land between the banks of Gouthami river for which requisitions have been submitted to District Collector. MP assured of help to expedite land acquisition issues.
General Manager also explained that the outlay of Rs.200 Crore allotted for the year 2016-17 would be spent mostly for acquisition of the land as the physical work of the Gauthami bridge is likely to commence in the month of February, 2017 and expenditure would be incurred from April, 2016 onwards.
The MP requested for expediting the work of major bridge across Goutami river, to which the General Manager replied that work would be taken up as soon as the tenders are finalised and all efforts would be made to expedite the bridge work. The Member of Parliament was shown the alignment of Kotipalli – Narsapur new railway line being laid and the proposed intermediate stations to come up.
