Mumbai Metro Rail likely to get final certification before Maharashtra Day

मुंबई Mumbai: Final testing of Metro rail by the Commissioner of Rail Safety (CRS) is in the last leg and if insiders are to be believed the Metro could get the final certificate before May 1, the Maharashtra Formation Day.

The CRS P S Baghel has been inspecting various parameters of running  Metro in the city since April 17. He first visited in D. N. Nagar carshed and then took a review of entire Metro system which includes rolling stocks, workshop, depot, corridor, stations, track, OHE etc.

On being satisfied after tests and trials, the CRS would authorise MMOPL to commence passenger operations on the line.

The CRS safety check is the last statutory certification requirement before the 11.4 km Versova-Andheri Ghat-kopar line is opened up for public.

With opening of the line, journey on route will be reduced to approximately 20 minutes between Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova corridor which at present takes almost two hours through various modes of other transports.
