Muslim staff allege problems during Ramzan, Railways denies allegations

Muslim employees in the Railways alleged on Tuesday that they are being deliberately posted in far away areas in month of Ramzan due to which they were facing difficulties in breaking their fast.

According to members of Uttariya Railway Mazdoor Union, loco drivers and other employees were being deliberately appointed to run the trains on long route.

“I was not given any duty at Ludhiana but in a far away area despite clear instructions from higher authorities. Like me, many other employees too are facing problems,” said a loco driver on condition of anonymity.

M L Parashar, Assistant Divisional Secretary of Uttariya Railway Mazdoor Union, said, “This issue have been brought to my notice by Muslim employees and we want railway authorities to take note of it.”

Senior Section Engineer Railways, Desh Raj denied the allegations and said “they are not creating troubles for any employee” adding that “orders were only for running staff and URMU members are creating fuss without any reason”.
