NCR wins 1st prize in National Energy Conservation Award 2013

Allahabad Jn (ALD):  North Central Railway has achieved a milestone by winning the first prize in National Energy Conservation Award 2013 amongst all the 17 Zonal Railways. The award has been given in recognition to North Central Railway’s adoption of numerous energy efficient technologies and measures/practices.

President of India Pranab Mukherjee presented the first prize in zonal railway category to North Central Railway which was received by NCR’s chief electrical services engineer Anupam Singhal. The prize constitutes of gold plated trophy & commendation certificate.

This prestigious award is a milestone in the history of North Central Railway. It has brought laurels and paved new ways of energy conservation. The event has motivated stake holders to adopt energy efficient technologies/ measures in their homes and workplaces.

Pointedly, energy is essential and precious commodity and plays crucial role in every sphere of life. By adopting various energy conservation methods, huge savings to the tune of 5% to 30% can be achieved in various sectors. In view of immense importance of efficient use of energy, the Centre has enacted Energy Conservation Act 2001 to provide legal frame work. Government of India, acting through ministry of power, has been making all out efforts to emphasize energy conservation.

To mark the commitment and propagate concepts of energy conservation, December 14 is observed as “National Energy Conservation Day” and Week from 09th to 14th December is being celebrated as “Energy Conservation Week”.

President of India Pranab Mukherjee, inaugurated the National Energy Conservation Award function held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi recently and presented the prizes to the winners of the National Energy Conservation Award-2013 in the presence of Union minister of state for power (independent charge) Jyotiraditya M Scindia.

During the energy conservation week, various seminars and workshops were organized by electrical department in all the three divisions and workshops of NCR. Officers, supervisors & staff participated wholeheartedly with full enthusiasm & pledged their full commitment towards energy conservation.
