Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government has given its approval for the new alignment of Sabari Railway line from Mellappara to Erumeli.
According to official sourcs here today, 171 hectare of land has to be acquired and only three shops and 109 houses need to be as per the new alignment vis-a-vis 854 houses as per the earlier alignment.
The new ailgnment also facilitates reduction of the distance by 20 Km. Four new railway stations are indicated at Pala, Bharananganam, Kanjirapally and Erumeli in the new blue print. A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
