Chandigarh: The Chandigarh-Amritsar Intercity Super Fast Express, which was flagged off from Chandigarh on November 15, has received good response, with almost full occupancy in the past few days. The number of passengers who traveled from Chandigarh in the train on its maiden journey was 272, which has increased to 841 on November 24. On its first day, only 204 passengers had taken the train from Amritsar, while on November 24, the 691passengers travelled from Amritsar.
The train is attracting more passengers from Chandigarh as compared to Amritsar. On November 24, the number of passengers who traveled from Chandigarh was 923 while that from Amritsar was 691. The total capacity of the train is 926, which includes 78 seats in AC-Chair Car(CC) and 848 in Non-AC Chair Car (2S). The fare is Rs 110 for a seat in Non-AC Chair Car and 385 in AC-Chair Car. The timing of the train has been one of the most important reasons for its popularity. “The timing, the low cost and the comfortable seating arrangement are the main reason why people are liking the new train. Any train which provides comfortable journey in a time bound manner and at a low cost is bound to be a success,” said A K Kathpal, the DRM, Ambala Division.
