MP R Dhruvanarayana said that with the Centre and State governments giving approval, a new rail route will be introduced between Bangalore and Chamarajanagar, soon.
Chamarajanagar (CMNR): Addressing a press meet here on Sunday, he said the governments have approved 142 km rail route and also sanctioned the necessary funds. The project to be taken up on the Bangalore-Kanakapura-Kollegal route to Chamarajanagar, is estimated at Rs.1382.78 crore, he said.
The Chief Minister too has directed to identify land for the same and speed up the works. Union Railway Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge will participate in the foundation stone laying ceremony in the first week of February, Dhruvanarayan said.
The project was estimated at Rs.297 crore in the year 1996, and has seen a massive cost escalation. Works are in progress to identify lands for running goods train, he added.
In all 36,000 Izzat passes have been distributed in the State, out of which 6,000 passes have been distributed in the district.
He would appeal to Kharge to introduce more rail routes to the district centre, he added.Road development
