Siliguri (SGUJ): The North-East Frontier railway initiated the construction of an underpass connecting the Ambari and Falakata stations following demands by the residents of the Sahudangi area. N.F.Railway Katihar Division’s Divisional Railway Manager AK Mishra, New Jalpaiguri Area Manager Partha Sarathi Sil and other officers inspected the construction site today.
Mishra said the underpass will ensure consistency in the trains’ speed along with the safety of the people crossing the tracks. According to the local residents, the area has been an accident-prone zone since many years where several people were run over by speeding trains while crossing the track. While expressing happiness the locals said the underpass will provide a safer option to the commuters.
Sources from the NF Railway said the trains heading towards to Guwahati, New Alipurduar and Coochbehar were diverted through the alternative Dooars route today.
