Nagpur (NGP): The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has proposed to construct new railway over bridge (RoB) at Ajni at an estimated cost of Rs.300 crore. The plan is to seek funds for the RoB from the central government under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The standing committee will take a decision on the proposal in the meeting organized on January 21.
MP Vilas Muttemwar is demanding a new RoB at Ajni for last two years. The existing RoB at Ajni is around 125 years old and badly needs to be replaced. The RoB at Ajni is must for connecting the South Nagpur with South-West and West Nagpur. A joint meeting was held at collectorate and decision taken to moot the proposal through the civic body.
According to the proposal, the new RoB will connect Tukdoji Putla Square-Wanjari Nagar Layout Road to Dhanwate National College and Chunna Bhatti area. NMC’s consultant SN Bhobe and Associates prepared a preliminary report of the project and estimated the cost at Rs.300 crore.
The NMC’s public works department has proposed to appoint the consultant to also prepare detailed project report (DPR) of the new RoB at an expense of Rs.1.35 crore. After preparing the DPR, the NMC will submit it with the centre.
Another major proposal that would be discussed in the January 21 meeting is related to construction of three BOT projects, including market and shopping mall at Budhwar Bazaar, Sakkardara, development of NMC workshop situated on Ghat Road and vegetable market and shopping mall at Babulkheda, Rameshwari. Proposal is to appoint aXYKNO as project management consultant for the three projects.
