Notification for land acquisition at Vyttila-Petta finalised for Kochi Metro

The notification for land acquisition at the Vyttila-Pettah road for the metro rail preparatory works has been finalised. District Collector P I Sheikh Pareeth said that the land would be acquired within two months.

The notification 4 (1) to acquire 4.94 acres of land will be published on Tuesday. Transfer and construction in the land of the identified survey numbers will not be allowed.

Since emergency clause has been invoked, the land acquisition will be completed within two months. The acquired land will be handed over to the DMRC, the Collector said.The notification was signed by the Land Revenue Commissioner on August 13. The Collector received the order in this regard on Monday.

The land, where the St George church and the mosque is situated, will also be acquired. The basic price for the land will be fixed soon. The District-level Purchase Committee will then decide the compensation rate.

The area at the CUSAT, Changampuzha park, and Thykoodam station has been handed over to the KMRL. Procedures have also been completed for handing over the Muttom station. Around 85 cents of land has been acquired for the Thykoodam station.

The acquisition procedures for the rest of the land are also being taken.
