ONGC (Dehradun) won the L.R.G. Naidu Trophy for men and Southern Railway (Chennai) took the women’s title and the K.C.P. Indirani Memorial Trophy in the all-India basketball tournament, organised by the Karur Basketball Club, here on Sunday.
In the men’s final, ONGC defeated IOB Chennai 61-56. In the women’s section, Southern Railway (SR) won all its matches in the four-team league.
South Central Railway (SCR), Secunderabad, with two wins, and Kerala Police, with a solitary victory, finished second and third respectively.
In the last of the league matches, SR defeated SCR 48-35.
Men: Final: ONGC 61 (Trideep Rai 22) bt IOB 56 (Shivabalan 14). Third place: Indian Navy, Lonavla 63 (Settu 22,Vipin 17) bt Indian Army, New Delhi 62 (Abishik 17, Gopal 14).
Semifinals: IOB 76 (Harish Koroth 24, Abhilok 12) bt Indian Army 59 (Gopal 24); ONGC 73 (Trideep Rai 32) bt Indian Navy 51 (Settu 10).
Women (league): SR 48 (Kokila 10, Alagutamilmozhi 10) bt SCR 35; SCR 41 (Gayathiri 16, Anusha Anto 12) bt Kerala Police 35 (Neenumol 12, Surya 10).
