Pakistan Railways runs 6 Cargo trains per day

Islamabad: Pakistan Railways (PR) is planning to run approximately 6 cargo rails per day by the end of present year.

An official of PR while talking to APP said that initiative will assist PR to generate INR 20 to 25 million revenue per day.

“PR has accorded priority to cargo rails to generate more revenue. A month back at an average 1 cargo rails per day was leaving Karachi for up country, whereas at present at an average 3 cargo rails are leaving Karachi.”

In passenger sector the fare structure has been readjusted to facilitate and attract more passengers to avail the facility of rail services and by this rationalization it’s likely that the average per month revenue of PR in passenger sector will boost by 7% to 10%.

To a question, he said, the defective luggage vans have been made fit on priority basis to attach with non lead trains to generate revenue from the parcel traffic.
