Palghat/Mangalore: Southern Railways Palghat Division has arranged an offical meeting with Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) at Chennai on November 29 to discuss issues related to road under bridge (RuB) and road overbridge (RoB) to be built at various level crossings in the city.
The decision came in the backdrop of request made by Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. Railways Palghat divisional railway manager Piyush Agarwal, who was in city, said that all issues related to railways in Mangalore will be discussed in the meeting. “Let MCC officials bring all files related to RuB or RoB required at Bajal, Jeppu-Kudpady and Jeppu-Mahakalipadpu. We will discuss the issue and take final decision,” he said adding that all grievances will be discussed there.
It may be recalled that the demand for a RuB at Bajal level crossing near Mangalore Junction railway station is pending for more than two decades. While demand for RuB or RoB at Jeppu-Kudpady and Jeppu-Mahakalipadpu too have not been fulfilled, the officials of the Southern Railways and MCC were playing blame game. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel had convened several meetings and the issue would come up for discussion.
The MP, MCC commissioner S Ajith Kumar Hegde, executive engineer GV Rajashekhar, assistant commissioner KA Dayanand and other officials will attend the meeting in Chennai.
