सेलम Salem (SA): The annual passenger earnings has increased from Rs. 340 crore in 2012-13 to Rs. 391 crore in 2013-14 and the overall earnings of the Salem Railway Division has improved from Rs.505 crore to Rs.548 crore, Shubhranshu, Divisional Railway Manager, said here on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of 59th Railway Week celebrations, he said that punctuality of running trains have also improved from 92.32 per cent to 93.16 per cent over the last year.
“In operational parameters, the division has showed remarkable improvements”, he added.
Recalling the various passenger amenities improvement in railway stations in the division, including provision of lift facility in Salem, Mr. Shubhranshu said that the four oil-fired steam locomotives for the Nilgiri Mountain Railway were operational and also the doubling of Salem-Mettur sector would be carried out.
A total of 13 shields and 371 medals were presented to officers and employees of various departments for their meritorious service.
