Passengers of Varanasi-Delhi Express robbed near Jalalganj

जौनपुर Jaunpur (JNU): Several passengers of Varanasi-Delhi Express (04931) were robbed near Jalalganj railway station in Jaunpur district on Wednesday night.

According to reports, the first stoppage of the train after leaving Varanasi is Sultanpur. However, the train was stopped for few minutes at Jalalganj railway station to give a pass to Patna-Mathura Express.

Assistant station master Ashok Kumar said that a few miscreants boarded different coaches of the train in small groups and robbed the passengers. The miscreants later pulled the chain to stop the train a few metres away from the Jalalganj railway station and escaped.

The incident came to light when Nilima Singh and Pallavi Singh of Varanasi, who were travelling in S6 coach and had to reach Bareilly, alighted at Jaunpur city station and lodged an FIR with GRP alleging that their cash, jewellery, mobile phone and all identity cards were robbed at gunpoint. When the train reached Sultanpur another passenger Pratima Sarraf of Noida, travelling in AC coach, registered a similar case with GRP. CO GRP Chiranjiv Mukherjee admitted that the incident took place near Jalalpur and GRP was trying to workout the case.
