As per the directions of Shri A.K. Gupta – General Manager of Western Railway, ‘Pension Shivirs’ were organised at W.Rly Headquarters in Churchgate, Mumbai as well as in all Divisional Headquarters including workshops on 10th August, 2018 to mark the successful implementation of pension revision on the basis of the 7th Central Pay Commission Recommendation. The Shivirs received an overwhelming response from pensioners, their family members and representatives of pensioners.

According to a press release issued by Shri Ravinder Bhakar – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railways, a large number of complaints and grievances were resolved on the spot by issuing direction to the bank, ensuring supply of copy of the PPO to the pensioner, etc. Western Railway has revised more than 1 lakh PPOs of pre-2016 pensioners up until August 2018. Officials from Personnel and Accounts departments of respective units, bank officials also attended the Shivir.

It is worth mentioning that Western Railway’s Ratlam division has released 15,119 revised PPOs in pre-2016 pension cases. With this, Ratlam division has gained the distinction of becoming the first division in the entire Indian Railways to issue 100% revised PPO. Shri A. K. Gupta – General Manager of W. Rly has appreciated this work and felicitated the concerned officers and staff with citation & awarded a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 for their contribution in achieving this remarkable feat. Not only Ratlam but Bhavnagar and Ahmedabad divisions have also completed 100% revision of PPOs, making three divisions over Western Railway to issue 100% revised PPO. Remaining three divisions of W. Rly. i.e., Mumbai, Vadodara and Rajkot are also on the way to achieve the target of 100% revision of PPOs.  Western Railway is the pioneer railway in computerizing the issue of PPO (Pension Payment Order), its revision etc. The Railway developed ARPAN (Advance Railway Pension Access Network) in the year 2014 and has been successful in revising the pension of more than one lakh pensioners as per 7th Central Pay Commission in time.

The ‘Shivir’ is another step by Western Railway Administration towards the welfare of its retirees and has been a grand success in all Units of Western Railway. Smt. Rita Hemranjani  – Chief Personnel Officer (Administration) and Shri Anand Kumar – Deputy Chief Accounts Officer (General) also attended the ‘Shivir’ organised at Western Railway’s  Headquarters at Churchgate in Mumbai.
