The Indian Railways has decided to add two more coaches to all Rajdhani trains to accommodate more passengers in the premier service. Rajdhani trains are run with 22 coaches currently, which will increase to 24 facilitating more passengers to travel at a time.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Railways has decided to add two more coaches to all Rajdhani trains to accommodate more passengers in the premier service. Currently, Rajdhani trains are having 22 coaches, which will increase to 24 facilitating more passengers to travel at a time. According to a senior Railway Ministry official, it has been decided to augment capacity of all LHB trains and it will begin with Rajdhani service. Later on, other trains with German Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches including Shatabdi, Duronto and Mail/Express service, which have high demand, will also be provided additional coaches to cater to the growing demand of passengers. According to the plan, while two additional coaches would be added in Rajdhani, other Mail/Express trains will be provided three LHB coaches.
Earlier on the day, Union Minister Rajen Gohain reviewed the performance of Central, Western and Konkan Railway. The Minister of State for Railways, Gohain held a meeting with the Central Railway (CR) General Manager D K Sharma and other senior officials, said a senior official. Divisional Railway Managers of the other four CR divisions joined the meeting via video conferencing, added he. The Minister also reviewed various projects being undertaken by the Ministry in CR, Western Railway and Konkan Railway, said the official.
Later, Gohain visited Konkan Railway headquarters in Navi Mumbai and reviewed its performance in a meeting attended by Konkan Railway CMD Sanjay Gupta. During the meeting Gohain briefed the vision and mission of Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu for socioeconomic development of Konkan Region, an official statement said. The Minister also reviewed the performance of Konkan Railway with respect to safety in train operation, security of passenger, passenger amenities, punctuality, Financial Progress and others, it said.
