NASHIK: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) plans to appoint a private consultant to conduct a survey of the city for a metro rail project. The proposal for the appointment will be tabled for approval before the civic general body during its meeting on Friday.
The civic standing committee has already made a provision of Rs 1 crore for the survey in the civic budget for 2013-14.
Civic officials said, “The city’s population is increasing day-by-day. It was around 4.5 lakh in 1982 and has increased to 16 lakh today. Considering the city’s growth, the civic administration has decided to chalk out a plan for a metro rail project. Hence, it is necessary to conduct a survey of the city with the help of an experienced firm.”
