Proposal for construction of new single line between 155.34 km Kottavalasa-Tuni via Narsipatnam & Madugula in AP shelved

NEW DELHI: The Railway Board has shelved the proposal for construction of a new single line between Kottavalasa and Tuni (155.34 km) via Narsipatnam and Madugula in the State, according to Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain.

This reply was given by Mr. Gohain in reply to Rajya Sabha member V. Vijay Sai Reddy’s question in the Rajya Sabha on Friday.

The Minister said that Tuni and Kottavalasa were already connected via electrified double line.

Negative return

However, a survey was sanctioned for provision of a new broad gauge line from Tuni to Kottavalasa via Narsipatnam and Madugula in 2016-17.

The negative return on revenue from the line as per the survey and hence the project was shelved, the Union Minister of State for Railways said.
