Ferozpur: Railways considering new proposal to curb heavy losses to railway property during agitations, says SZ Khan of Ferozpur Rail Division.
The railways – which becomes a soft target during agitations by various organizations – is seriously considering a proposal to find a solution on account of heavy losses during protests.
SZ Khan, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Ferozepur Rail Division, informed that during 2015-16 agitations throughout the country especially in Punjab and Haryana, the railway had suffered huge losses.
The protesters stop trains over very small issues causing inconvenience to the passengers besides putting huge revenue losses to the railways.
Khan informed that after holding consultations with Divisional Rail Manager, Anuj Parkash, Divisional Rail RPF is making a proposal that will be sent to the Central government for approval, and if implemented, will benefit the railways.
According to the proposal, the report of Railway Protection Force against whom the cases have been registered, will be sent to the concerned police stations and as and when the police verification for going abroad comes, it should be banned.
Khan further said, there is too much craze for going abroad in Punjab and Haryana and the railway has to face maximum losses in these two states.
In case, this proposal gets a nod from the government, the protesters will think twice before stopping the trains in future and railways would be avoided from bearing huge losses. These proposals have also been sent to the police heads of the two states for information, he added.
