Salon/Amethi: Congress Vice President Mr.Rahul Gandhi along with Railway Minister M.Mallikarjun Kharge will lay the foundation stone for the much awaited Uchahar-Salon-Amethi new railway line at Salon tomorrow. Congress star campaigner and sister of the Congress vice-president Priyanka Vadra is also likely to attend the programme. Along with the new railway line, Mr Gandhi and the Railway Minister will also introduce the new Lucknow-Prtapgarh DMU service and Lucknow-Sultanpur EMU service.
Earlier, Mr Gandhi was to lay the foundation stone for three new railway lines connecting all the blocks of Amethi parliamentary constituency but later the remaining two projects have been dropped by the railway ministry. According to sources, preparation has started for the launching of the three projects which is expected to cost around Rs 1,331 crores. The 67 km railway line project to be laid would be between Uchahar to Amethi touching the Salon in Amethi district was approved in the union budget in 2010-11 but the foundation stone is expected to be laid after 3 years. Railways were yet to approve the Detail Project Report (DPR) of the new railway line for which the foundation stone would be laid tomorrow. Railways will spend around Rs 380 crores for the project. However, the two other rail line projects, first between Rae Bareli-Tiloi Akbarpur- Enohana of 47 KMs costing 296 crores and the second one between Akbarpur- Bazarshukl- Faizabad of 69 kms costing around Rs 655 crore have been again delayed.
