KHARAGPUR: A railway employee was shot dead near his quarter in Mathuraghati colony in the Kharagpur Town police station area on Sunday night. The body was sent for autopsy. The victim, I Ramji, 30, was a helper at a railway workshop. At 11.30pm on Sunday, Ramji was returning home on a scooty when three men on a two-wheeler fired at him and escaped, said police. Sr.DPO Kharagpur Mr.Dyutiman Bhattacharya and police interrogated locals. SP Sunil Choudhary said the motive behind the murder is not clear.
A railway employee was murder at his near quarter in Mathuraghati colony, situated in the under the jurisdiction of Kharagpur Town Police on Sunday night around 11.30 am. An employee of railway work shop department was shot at and murder by unidentified 3 men. I Ramji (30), was employed as a helper of work shop in the railways. He was staying in the railway quarters of Mathuraghati A-4 unit 6. His mother and 2 brother, one sister had quarters. Police and local sources said I Ramji was on back to home a scoti (two-wheeler) when by three men who then shot and escaped in a two wheeler. Fire sound and cry then local people stroll and to come into sight, a profusely bleeding Ramji was then taken to Kharagpur hospital in a serious condition. Monday morning SDPO Kharagpur Dyutiman Bhattacharya and town police reached the spot. The SDPO interrogated several persons of the colony. The body was sent for post-mortem examination Monday khargpur hospital. Superintendent of Police Sunil Choudhary said the motive behind the attack was not clear.
