Railway Engine derails at Patna Junction

Patna Jn (PNBE):  A locomotive pilot engine at Patna Junction on Sunday jumped off its track sending a wave of panic among passengers waiting at the platforms and railway officials on duty.

Since it was only a pilot engine, no casualty was reported.

As reported, the pilot engine number 18267 derailed due to existing cracks on the track. When inspected, at least four hair-line cracks were noticed in a short distance of only 12 feet.

This is the fifth case of track jumping at Patna Junction in last five months.

Railway officials, however, undermined the problem saying the tracks were fit for train movement and maintenance were going on to remove cracked lines.
